Order Picking

This section covers order picking using the WMS picking functions.

How do I create a picking list?

The simplest way of creating a picking list is from the New Sales screen open the drop down menu next to the order picking button and select Create one picklist.

What are the pick list states?

There are four starts for a picklist:

  1. Hold Nothing happens to pick lists in the hold state. They are on hold and are not released for picking.
  2. Released Pick lists in the released state are ready for picking. Order pickers will see released picking orders on the WMS Functions when they start picking.
  3. Picking When a pick list is started by an order picker, the pick list will be in the picking state.
  4. Complete When a pick list is finished by an order picker the pick list will be put in to the complete state.

How do I put a pick list on hold?

Pick lists can only be placed on hold if picking has not started. Once picking is started, it cannot be placed on hold.

  1. Open the pick list by selecting Sales, pick lists from the main menu.
  2. Double click on the pick list to edit it.
  3. From the Operations menu select Hold pick list

How do I assign a pick list to a particular order picker?

In the release dialog set the pick to the username of the picker that you would like to assign this pick list to. Released pick lists can be released again if the parameters for assignment, priority and target location need to be altered.

What is the priority of a picking order?

The priority of a picking order dictates where in the picking queue the order is place. A higher priority order will be picked first.

What is the target location of a pick list?

A target location is the destination for any unit loads generated during a pick. It is not usually necessary to explicitly set a target location or a pick list.

When no target location is explicitly set on a pick list, the target location is determined as follows:

  1. For internal pick list, the target location is Internal
  2. If the pick list is for a sale that is assigned to a delivery the target location is the route assigned to the delivery
  3. If the pick list is for a sale the target location is shown as the delivery route for that customer in the address book.

How do I set a pick list as completed a pick list?

Usually pick lists are finished automatically when the order picker stores the final unit load at the end of a pick. If for some reason the pick list is left unfinished. The pick lists can be finished manually by:

  1. Open the pick list from the Sales, Pick lists in the main menu.
  2. From the Operations select Finish picking

The pick list will be set to completed and any unstored items or unit loads will be sent to goods out.

How do I delete a pick list?

Only pick lists in the hold state can be deleted.

  1. Delete the picking list as normal from the pick list table.

If picking is already started, it is not possible to delete the pick list. Follow how to cancel a pick list below.

How to I cancel a pick list that has already been started?

Once picking has already started, it may be necessary to stop picking and cancel the order. Care should be taken in this situation, as some of the stock on this pick list has been take off unit loads in the WMS. Any stock that has already been picked will need to be returned back to the correct storage location using New Stock.

  1. Open the pick list from the Sales, Pick lists in the main menu.
  2. From the Operations menu select Cancel picking

This will set all the outstanding items to a picking quantity of zero. Any unit loads will be moved to goods-out.
