Troubleshooting and Server Maintance

In the event of a power cut, the server will power down and stay off. Before the software can start, you will need to start the server up again. Follow the start up instructions here.

Connect a monitor to the server, the screen should look like it is below.

You do not need to login.

Before you start, make sure there is a monitor attached and the screen is powered on The screen should look like the one shown in the How do I know the server is working correctly? section.

To shut down the server, click (DO NOT hold the button down) and immediately release the power button.

Wait for the server to shut down.

If you are planning to move the server, take a picture of the back of both the server and the battery pack where you can see the position of each cable.

Before you start, make sure there is a monitor attached and the screen is powered on

See How do I know the server is working correctly? section and make sure the the server is not already switched on. If you see nothing on the servers screen, or the monitor goes into Power Save mode, the server is switched off.

If you are sure the server is switched off:

1. If you have a Battery Backup attached to the server, switch that on first and wait for the self test to complete.
2. Click the power button the server will power up and the monitor will show the boot up sequence.
3. It will take up to 15 minutes for the server to start up.

When the server is ready, the screen should look like the one shown in the How do I know the server is working correctly? section.

Attach a keyboard to the server and press CTRL + ALT + DEL keys together. The server will shutdown, reboot and return the the screen shown in the How do I know the server is working correctly? section.

It may take up to 15 minutes for the server to reboot.
