Stock Take
When a stock take is completed on the Hand Held devices, AutoMagic
This section cover what happens when a stock take is completed on the WMS Hand Held devices.
A stock take is a physical count of the stock in a location. During a stock take, records of the stock are created for each Unit load in the location and for each Stock on the Unit load. For many locations there will be only one unit load in each location.
Stock take orders
Stock take orders can be raised by:
- From the main menu select,
Stock, WMS, Locations - Highlight the locations required for stock taking.
- From the
3 Barmenu selectWith selection, Stock Take locations
Stock taking orders will in one of 4 states.
Open
These orders are Locations that require stock taking.
Started
This state denotes the stock take order has been started. In this state the location will be locked for stock taking. No changes are allowed in that location until the stock take is complete.
At the end of the count the software will make a decision. If:
- The count matches the Unit Load records; there are no adjustments required, and the Stock Take Order is marked as
Accepted - The counts don't match and a stock adjustment is required. I this case the stock taking order is set to
Counted
Counted
In this state, the stock take counts did not match the actually WMS counts and adjustments are required. There are three choices:
- The counts can be made to match, and the stock take is marked as
Accepted - A recount is required, and the stock take order is send for recounting. The location will be unlocked and the order returns to the
Openstate for counting again. - The stock take order is rejected.
The 3 Bar menu contains options for selecting how you want the stock take order to be treated. A stock take order can only be Accepted if all the counts match the actual stock.
Rejected
The location will be unlocked and this stock take is abandoned.
Accepted
The location will be unlocked and the stock take is completed. Stock takes in this state show that exact state of the location at the time the stock take was accepted.
Location Types
We split this section in to:
- Normal Location These could be storage locations or picking locations containing a
Unit load. - Free picking locations where we do not maintain a count of the stock and the quatity in each location is a calculation of the stock on hand.
In each section we outline what to do in each senario.
Normal Locations
The stock count is wrong
Highlight the stock unit. From the menu select Correct Stock Unit Quantity
The Batch No or Best Before Date is wrong
Highlight the stock unit. From the menu select Correct Batch No /BBD
The location of the unit load is wrong
Highlight the Unit Load. From the menu select Correct unit load location
The location of the unit load is wrong
Highlight the Unit Load. From the menu select Correct unit load location
The stock does not exist
The stock take might have missed a Stock Unit.
Highlight the Stock Unit. From the menu select Move to clearing location
In this senario we do not delete the Stock unit because it is likely that this Stock unit is in the wrong location. It may well be found in an other location.
Therefore, we move the Stock Unit to the Clearing location.
A stock was found on the location
Highlight the Unit Load. From the menu select Create stock unit
Free Picking Locations
The stock count is wrong
Highlight the stock unit. From the menu select Correct Stock Unit Quantity
The Batch No or Best Before Date is wrong
Highlight the stock unit. From the menu select Correct Batch No /BBD
The stock does not exist
The stock take might have missed a Stock Unit.
Highlight the Stock Unit. From the menu select Correct Stock Unit Quantity
The stock on hand will be adjusted so that it is effectively zero
A stock was found on the location
If the stock is allowed to be stored on that locaiton, from the menu select Create stock unit. This will adjust the stock on hand so that the correct amount of stock is shown in the location.
I the stock is not allowed to be stored in that location. The only choice is to reject the stock take.
